Q and A:
I have a RM 1501 which I am trying to connect to the ""Digital Tachometer v5.0"" software running on a Win 7 Pro SP1 system.
The problem is the PC has no serial port so I am having to use a BELKIN F5U103v USB-to-Serial Comm port adaptor. Which has been set up match the RM-1501 requirements off 9600, 8, No parity, 1 SB, No Flow Control.
But the software indicates ""NO COM"".
Is there an update to the v5.0 software.
best regards
Answer : RM-1501 original transmission line of the pin, a special design, please still use the original transmission line in series.
In addition, the sale of many USB to RS232 transmission line, mostly to the printer to use, not necessarily meet the RM-1501 such industrial equipment transmission needs, this is because the use of RS232 pin problems.

How does a contact RPM tachometer measure speed? How does a tachometer work?
The contact-type mechanical measurement sensor is a traditional RPM rotational speed measurement method. The rotational speed data collected by the sensor must be converted by electronic analysis inside the instrument. This measurement method is still used, but mostly for low-speed measurements from 20 to 8000 RPM.
This measurement method relies on contact pressure in the measurement process, and its biggest disadvantage is the discontinuity of loading motion. In addition, the method of mechanically measuring the RPM speed is not suitable for small objects. If the rotation rate is too high, it is prone to instability and shaking, so it needs to be fixed with a tripod.
Non-contact RPM speed measurement principle:
The measurement method uses the photoelectric reflection principle (optical RPM speed measurement method) The infrared rays emitted by the measuring instrument are reflected by the reflection strip fixed on the target to be measured, and then carry the relevant speed information. After the measuring instrument receives the reflected wave, it is processed to obtain the rotational speed data. This measurement method is more advanced, accurate, and safer than mechanical RPM measurement.
