The basic principle of the hot wire anemometer is to put a thin metal wire(Sensor)  in the air-fluid, and heat the wire (ie, the hot wire) through an electric current so that the temperature is higher than the temperature of the air-fluid when the air-fluid flows through the metal wire (sensor) in a vertical direction. When the wire is used, part of the heat of the wire will be taken away so that the temperature of the wire will drop. The heat dissipation of the hot wire in the airflow is related to the flow rate. The heat dissipation causes the temperature of the hot wire to change and causes the resistance to change.
